Supermarket Belongs to the Community

Supermarket belongs to the community. While Chef has the responsibility to keep it running and be stewards of its functionality, what it does and how it works is driven by the community. The chef/supermarket repository will continue to be where development of the Supermarket application takes place. Come be part of shaping the direction of Supermarket by opening issues and pull requests or by joining us on the Chef Mailing List.

Add something like the following to your recipe or role:

node['java']['jdk']['6']['x86_64']['url'] = 'http://example .com/jdk-6u41-linux-x64.tar.gz'
node['java']['jdk']['6']['x86_64']['checksum'] = 'd54749ac1ae3dad19643aa38d54aec1b4d8f6268e06edb744d6864d9eb8a8f31'
node["asgard"]["war"]["url"] = "http://example.com/asgard-1.1.war"
node["asgard"]["war"]["checksum"] = "207124a5127c7b9a4a7f522298935d5e595b558bbdcfba1a9c3c74c22032ac51"

node["asgard"]["aws"]["accounts"] = %w{1234567890}
node["asgard"]["aws"]["accountNames"] = { '1234567890' => "development" }
node["asgard"]["aws"]["accessId"] = "ACCESS_ID"
node["asgard"]["aws"]["secretKey"] = "SECRET_KEY"
node["asgard"]["cloud"]["accountName"] = "development"

node["asgard"]["apache"]["server"]["admin"] = "asgard@example.com"
node["asgard"]["apache"]["server"]["name"] = "asgard.example.com"
node["asgard"]["apache"]["server"]["aliases"] = [ node.name ]

include_recipe "asgard::apache"

The process will install Tomcat 7:

  • /opt/tomcat/
  • /opt/tomcat/tomcat-7/
  • /opt/tomcat/default/

And it will install Asgard as a separate Tomcat instance with an init script:

  • /opt/tomcat/asgard/
  • /opt/tomcat/asgard/.asgard/
  • /opt/tomcat/asgard/.asgard/Config.groovy/
  • /etc/default/asgard
  • /etc/init.d/asgard

If you use the optional asgard::apache recipe, it will also install Apache and setup a Virtual Host definition to proxy requests from port 80 to Tomcat Asgard on port 8080:

  • /etc/httpd/sites-enabled/asgard.conf
