Supermarket Belongs to the Community

Supermarket belongs to the community. While Chef has the responsibility to keep it running and be stewards of its functionality, what it does and how it works is driven by the community. The chef/supermarket repository will continue to be where development of the Supermarket application takes place. Come be part of shaping the direction of Supermarket by opening issues and pull requests or by joining us on the Chef Mailing List.

Chef Run Recorder Cookbook

Maintainer: OIT Systems Engineering (ua-oit-se@alaska.edu)

Purpose

Adds a chef-handler that creates files that record the result of the last run.
These files are intended to be easily discovered and used by external scripts, e.g. Message of the Day, and so have simple formats.
Most files contain a single string.

  1. /opt/chef/run_record/last_chef_run_node_name: Node name
  2. /opt/chef/run_record/last_chef_run_time: Current timestamp, a single integer representing seconds since epoch
  3. /opt/chef/run_record/last_chef_run_success_flag: Success flag, either 'true' or 'false'
  4. /opt/chef/run_record/last_chef_run_exception: Exception text, or 'none' for success
  5. /opt/chef/run_record/last_chef_run_node.json: The Json representation of the node object
